A Shared Transfer from Geneva Airport to Les Houches

A shared transfer is an economical and environmentally-friendly way of travelling between Les Houches and the airport. You will be sharing the vehicle with other people.

Before the outbound journey from Geneva Airport (GVA) to Les Houches begins, you might have to wait a few minutes for more passengers to arrive on different flights, but there might not still be enough people to fill the vehicle.
In low season, it is possible for the minibus to depart Geneva Airport with only 4 or 5 passengers.
Once you are on your way, there should be no stops until you arrive in the Pays du Mont-Blanc, where passengers might be dropped off before you in other Pays du Mont-Blanc resorts, such as Servoz, Sallanches and Saint-Gervais.

This tends to happen more when demand is low. Each drop-off causes a small delay, and if you are the last person to be dropped off at your accommodation in Les Houches, there might be a delay of 15-20 minutes before you reach Les Houches.

However, in the high season, there is a reasonable probability that all your fellow passengers will be travelling to Les Houches. In this case, the driver will not stop along the way, but there still might be a few minutes delay, with passengers being dropped-off in Les Houches before you. Also, you might get lucky, and be the first to be dropped off.

The Shared Transfer from Les Houches to Geneva Airport

The transfer company will always notify you of the pick-up time from your accommodation or other agreed pick-up location in the resort.

Be in that place at the appointed time. If you are not there, the driver will not wait, as to do so, the journeys of other passengers might get compromised. No-one wants to risk missing their flight, because someone else is not at their agreed pick-up point on-time.

As soon as all passengers from Les Houches are picked-up, the journey to Geneva Airport begins. However, it is possible that, along the way, the driver might stop in other Pays du Mont-Blanc resorts to pick-up more passengers, particularly in Servoz.

If you travel during peak season, there is a reasonable possibility that all the seats in the minibus will be occupied when leaving Les Houches, so your driver will not make any more stops before reaching your final destination, the Geneva Airport.

Ethics of a Shared Transfer to or from Les Houches

The shared transfer experience requires a bit of “give and take” and a considerate attitude from all passengers.
Please, be on time at the appointed pick-up point. Do be helpful if required and be polite to your fellow passengers.
The companies that provide shared transfers are very experienced.
Listen to what their driver says and enjoy the ride!

What happens if my flight is delayed?

TransferFix is in the process of contracting with all LTPs so that you might be able to benefit from transportation on the next available mini-bus.

By choosing a seat in a shared transfer, you save money and leave a lower carbon trail.

Private Transfers to and from Les Houches

A Private transfer gives you much more flexibility. You get to choose your drop-off and pick-up points in Les Houches.

When you book your private transfer online, you receive an instant confirmation via e-mail or text message and your driver will meet you at the airport.

With Transferfix and a private ride to or from Les Houches, you can enjoy the privacy of a taxi service while paying less money than a premium luxury limousine service.

You have no other passengers to consider, but do listen to your driver for any advice.

Be Prepared

Always remember that Les Houches is an alpine resort!

Depending on unpredictable & out of anyone's control matters, and in unusual circumstances, the situation might change, sometimes very quickly.

You might have to adapt. If that is required, listen to your driver and please follow any instructions he might give you.

About Les Houches

Les Houches is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of eastern France.

The village is located only 6 km away from the famous French ski resort, Chamonix, and it is a traditional French farming village which encompasses 152 km of ski pistes.

Les Houches assisted in the organization of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games and it is home to the world renowned physics summer school, the École de Physique des Houches.

Les Houches is the starting and finishing point of the Tour du Mont-Blanc, a 7 to 10 days walk around the base of the Mont-Blanc massif.

From the village, you can take the Prarion lift to get up to the Prarion Plateau (1,900 m), from where you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery of Mont-Blanc.

You can also take the Bellevue cable car from Les Houches, which will take you to the Bellevue plateau (1,800 m), from where you choose from many hiking trails in unique landscapes.

The commune is a beautiful ski resort that will definitely appease everyone, regardless of their ski competence or even if they would like to enjoy other activities besides skiing.

Skiing in Les Houches

The ski area of Les Houches extends from an altitude of 950m to 1900m and it combines long and gentle descents with fascinating views of the mighty Mont-Blanc and the Chamonix valley.

Due to its gentle and long descents and the tree-lined runs, Les Houches is the perfect ski vacation destination for beginners and intermediates.

However, besides its four green runs (learner’s level), five blue runs (beginners) and 12 red runs (intermediates), in Les Houches you will also find one international black run for advanced skiers, which is used for the annual international event, the Kandahar run, which is part of the Men’s Downhill World Cup Ski Championships. The black run will definitely be challenging enough even for the most experienced skiers.

And you shouldn’t worry about the lack of snow when in Les Houches! The village has a new network of 67 snow canons covering 19 hectares which provides artificial snow coverage, so you can fully enjoy skiing!

Family activities

Les Houches has been aiming for years at becoming an ideal family resort, which they succeeded, as they have been awarded the “Familie plus Montagne” certificate by the French government.

Almost every activity is designed with the purpose of being entertaining for everyone, regardless of their age. Also, Les Houches provided excellent family discounts, for example, the “tribu” ski pass for three to five people (two adults and one to three kids), which is cheaper than the usual price.

The Spa des Granges d'en Haut has 600 square meters and it is one of the best spas in the whole Chamonix valley. This state-of-the-art spa offers an indoor swimming pool, hammam, sauna, Jacuzzi, fitness room and four individual treatment rooms for massage and other treatments.

Les Houches has another modern spa - The Spa et Beauté Montagne – which provides many services as well.

Restaurants and bars

There are many nice small to mid-sized restaurants in Les Houches, most of them serving local dishes and providing great views over the Mont-Blanc massif. Such two restaurants are the Hors Piste and Les Vieilles Luges.

There are a couple of nice cosy bars in Les Houches, but as the village is centred on families, you won’t have too many options. However, you can arrive in Chamonix in ten minutes by bus and the bus runs until midnight.
