Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce is an old commune of the Haute-Savoie in the Val Montjoie located between Saint-Gervais-les-Bains and Les Contamines-Montjoie.
Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce is located 10 km or 6.21 miles from Saint-Gervais, to which it was attached by prefectural decree in December 1973.
Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce was most likely established in the ninth century, although the church was only attested in 1280.
The hamlet is located at an altitude of 1180 m (3871 ft) and its proximity to larger ski resorts makes it the ideal vacation place for those who seek both tranquillity and the hustle-and-bustle of the larger cities.
In the 20th century, skiing increased in popularity, thus Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce became a ski resort, with the first ski lift being inaugurated for the 1970 winter season.

Musee d'Art Sacre de Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce
This beautiful chapel is found at the entrance of the village and it offers exhibitions of wood carvings, paintings, goldsmiths pieces from the 16th to the 19th century with the purpose of presenting the history and development of the village.
It all open daily from 3 pm to 6 pm, all year round, with some exceptions. Annual closure between November and mid-December.

20 km long (12.4 miles), the path takes two days if you want to visit all the places with qualified guides for Pays de Savoie heritage.
On the first day, you will be taken from Saint Nicholas church in Combloux to the church in St Nicolas de Véroce with exceptional open access to the various chapels along the way.
The second day another guide will take you from St Nicholas de Véroce to the Church of Our Lady in Notre Dame de la Gorge and that of Les Contamines Montjoie.
